Selena Gomez has been in the news lately for her jet-setting promotion of her new album A Year Without Rain and her role in The Wizards of Waverly Place.  In 2008 she was made a UNICEF spokesperson for the Trick-or-Treat campaign, which encourages kids to raised money on Halloween for other children around the world.  By 2009 she became the youngest UNICEF ambassador and has since been lending her voice to some very important causes.

Recently, she was honored to introduce one of CNN’s Top Heroes.  This year marks the fourth annual event that  searches the globe for everyday people making a difference in the world.  Since January CNN has been airing weekly profiles chosen from 10,000 nominations submitted by viewers in 100 countries.  Each of the top ten chosen will receive $25,000 to help the projects the heroes have funded and the top person with the most votes will receive $100,000.  Viewers can go online to vote for their favourite hero at CNNHeroes.com and watch some of the videos of other nominees.  The polls will remain open until November 18th at 6 a.m.  E.T.

The top ten will be honored at a tribute show hosted by Anderson Cooper on Thanksgiving night.  Below is a small clip of Selena introducing one of the nominees.  Remember it is not too late to vote!!
