Disney To Create An Animated Series Based On TRON: Legacy
Nearly 30 years after the original TRON film came out, TRON is suddenly a hot item again. In addition to TRON: Legacy, Disney wants to make an animated companion piece to the film. Disney XD has ordered a new animated series based on the upcoming film, which is set to hit theaters this December. The new series will be called TRON: Uprising and is scheduled to debut on the Disney XD television channel in the summer of 2012.
TRON: Uprising will be executive produced by Charlie Bean, while consulting producers will be the current TRON: Legacy writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz.
Elijah Wood will voice Beck, who leads a revolution inside the grid’s computer world. In addition to Wood, some of the other actors who will voice characters on the animated series will include Emmanuelle Chriqui, Mandy Moore, Paul Reubens, Lance Henriksen, and Bruce Boxleitner. That’s quite a roundup. Disney XD will air TRON: Uprising along with the previously announced 10-episode TRON microseries, which starts in fall 2011.
