“Frankenweenie” Finds a Star!

Winona Ryder will reteam up with Edward Scissorhands director Tim Burton and voice a character in Walt Disney Picture’s Frankenweenie.  The cast will also include the voice talents of Catherine O’Hara and  Martin Short.  I wonder what happened to Maleficent, the Disney villainess movie Tim Burton was supposed to have been making?

Frankenweenie was a short that Burton made in the early 80s and he’s finally fleshing it out into a feature length film.  It’s about Victor, whose dog Sparky gets hit by a car and dies.  Victor brings Sparky back to life… and I’m sure if you’ve seen any Tim Burton films what happens next will be funny, charming, and slightly horrifying.  It sounds like Stephen King’s Pet Sematary but with a laugh track and slightly more family friendly.  It should be out in 2012, which sounds like forever but really that’s just a year and a half.
