Guillermo Del Toro To Make “The Haunted Mansion”

Jul - 28 2010 | Lisa Stauber | no comments |

It’s just been announced at Comic-Con that Guillermo Del Toro will be taking on a new project for Disney: a remake of The Haunted Mansion, based on the legendary Disneyland ride.  Del Toro is taking on a lot of dark movies, with involvement with Jekyll and Hyde, Frankenstein, and Van Helsing all in development with him attached.  He’s a big fan of the ride, and is looking forward to the movie.  Here’s what he had to say about it to MTV at Comic Con:

“For some people, it’s just a ride. For others like me, it’s a way of life.  We’re really serious fanatics. I’m a big, big collector of it. I’ve been collecting not only memorabilia, but also original artifacts from the mansion for the last ten years.”

Disney, under new leadership, is planning to move to the dark side.  Rumors have swirled recently that Angelina Jolie might play the ultimate Disney villainess, Maleficent, for a Tim Burton-helmed feature film.  Del Toro will write and produce The Haunted Mansion and I bet it will be a lot more serious and scary than 2003′s movie starring Eddie Murphy.

Jul - 28 2010 | Lisa Stauber | 2 comments |

It looks like Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam is wrapping up production and Disney has released stills of several scenes from the movie.  Demi Lovato and the Jonas brothers star in the sequel to Disney’s hit Camp Rock.

Check it out!

Oooh, drama drama!  What happened to Kevin Jonas?  Is he sick?  Faking?

Whoa, those girls don’t look like they’re getting good news.

But now Demi Lovato is happy about something!

Look!  Campers!  So that’s what the camp counselors are for.

Whoo-hoo!  More dancing and singing.  It is a musical, after all!

Are you looking forward to Camp Rock 2? Did you like the first one?

Jonas LA Soundtrack Hits Top 10!

Jul - 28 2010 | Lisa Stauber | 5 comments |

The soundtrack to “Jonas LA”, the popular Disney show, hit the Billboard’s top ten this week.  It landed at a solid #7 on the chart, with over 33,000 albums sold and beat out Miley Cyrus but sits behind Justin Bieber (edit:updated).  You can see the video for “Hey You”, one of the tracks, right here on BSCKids.com!  The Jonas brothers are on tour and are promoting their new movie, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam.  I wonder if that album will hit the top ten, as well?

The soundtrack released in the US on July 20, so it hit the top ten in just a week’s time!  Congratulations, Jonas Brothers!  Do you think the Jonas brothers deserve a spot in the top ten?  Should they have beat Miley Cyrus’s album this week?

Justin Bieber Wins Big At Teen Choice Awards

Jul - 28 2010 | Sarah Peel | 4 comments |

Justin Bieber will not appear at the awards show likely when it airs on August 9th, since he has already accepted his 4 awards prior. We have the video, which will likely be shown during the awards show on the 9th. But you can watch it here first before it airs on Teen Choice Awards!

He won these following awards-Choice Top Album, Choice Summer Music Star, Choice Top Album, and Choice Breakout Artist, Male. So he won four awards and was lucky to get them ahead of the time. Another neat little factor is the fact that Shaquille O’Neal was able to present him with one the awards. Which is pretty cool, considering the fact that they will have a dancing face off on Shaquille’s show.

You can also see two exclusive photos from Justin Bieber being on the set of CSI. You can watch the video below to see him accepting his awards and do not forget to watch the Teen Choice Awards.

Demi Lovato Interview – Video

Jul - 27 2010 | Sarah Peel | 2 comments |

Demi Lovato

I was lucky enough to attend the Shop Til You Rock event in Alpharetta, GA on July 24th, where I was able to interview her for BSCKids. The video is below, in which I asked about Sonny with a Chance and her other projects like her upcoming album. I think the interview is very informative and is a must see for any Demi Lovato fan.

Be warned about the screaming fans, as the interview was filmed besides the stage and her fans went crazy over her! Other than that, the video is fairly short, but to the point. Sadly, she did not perform at this event, but she did do a meet and greet with her fans. However, you can see when she performed at the Glendale Galleria. for the same even. The event went smoothly all in all, but the highlight is this interview.

Do not forget to check out when the event will come near your city and see who will perform. Also, do not forget about the contest at Shop Til You Rock for a chance to win a meet and greet with Demi herself! Now for the video of the interview.

Sweet Valley High Hits Bookshelves!

Jul - 27 2010 | Lisa Stauber | no comments |

“Sweet Valley High” was a series of books that your moms probably read, very popular in the 80s and 90s.  There was even a TV series.  Now a new book about the Sweet Valley twins, Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield, is coming out.  Titled “Sweet Valley Confidential: 10 Years Later”.  Now Elizabeth is a reporter in New York and Jessica is in the middle of a divorce, and the twins aren’t speaking to each other.

I’m not sure why they bothered adding the “ten years later” part, since the original series had the twins in high school for over 20 years across over 150 different books, many written by ghost writers.  It’s the latest tween girl book-turned-movie. The movie, by the way, should release in 2012 and is to be written by the ever witty Diablo Cody (Juno).  I never read the books but I’ll probably go see the movie because I think Diablo is so talented!  Have you ever read the Sweet Valley books?

Selena Gomez On Ryan Seacrest

Jul - 27 2010 | Sarah Peel | no comments |

Selena Gomez recently went on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show to talk about her newly released film and her new album, along with her co-star Joey King. You can hear the interview below for all of the goodies they talked about on the show.

Interviews with Selena Gomez are always entertaining and again she did well. They talked about the movie Ramona and Beezus, of course mixed with other topics. The interview was typical Ryan Seacrest style. I do give major props to Selena since she was sick during the interview, so she really went above and beyond with this one.

I love the fact that they did not just talk about her movie, but also her upcoming album. In addition, Joey King did bring some laughter to the show as well. I think they all did a good job and I hope that Selena Gomez will get the chance to work with Joey again. They both make a great team together and they enjoyed working with each other.
