Justin Bieber Causes New American Idol Policy

Justin Bieber isn’t just influencing tween girls these days.  His superstar status, fast rise to fame, and profitability have caught the eye of the producers of TV hit “American Idol”.  They’ve lowered the minimum age to compete from 16 to 15.  Judge Randy Jackson said:

“You’re seeing stars like Justin Bieber. There’s a lot of kids that are getting better earlier. It’s great.”

Justin Bieber isn’t the first young teen to be a star. LeeAnn Rimes had a hit at age 13, and Taylor Swift rejected a record contract at age 15.  Previously, “American Idol” had increased the competition age from 24 to 28 to allow older singers to compete.  Do you think the younger age will help discover new talent?
