Jesse McCartney’s New Song “Up”
Former Dreamstreet singer and actor Jesse McCartney has a new single out called Up. The song will be featured in the film Step Up 3D, which opens in August. The song is featured on the soundtrack, which comes out in stores on July 27th.
The song is a typical style that you would expect from a former boy band member. Though I was a little surprised by the hip-hop flavor that it has. The song is catchy and it does have the popular dance feel to it. But it isn’t something that I would say that suites his style. Jesse McCartney was known for his pop sound, and this doesn’t really do it justice.
What do you think? The video can be seen below to hear Jesse McCartney’s song. Do you think the song is good or do you feel that it is weak? I think it is a weaker choice and he should have picked a song that would allow him to really display his talents.

You’ve got it all wrong! Jesse has been a force unto himself for about 10 years now. The DreamStreet “boy-band” days are loooooong gone! The boy-band split up in 2001. Jesse McCartney has grown into an internationally loved singer with a huge Twitter following of 231,378 and growing. He’s put out several CDs on his own starting with the platinum seller, Beautiful Soul (2004), he then made The Beautiful Soul Tour (2005), Off The Record (an acoustic collection – 2005), Right Where You Want Me (2006)which displayed a harder rock sound, Departure (2008) and Departure Recharged (2009)which contains a rapped up version of How Do You Sleep and 4 brand new tracks. The song, Leavin’ on this CD, went platinum. He’s also produced 2 Video CDs, “Up Close” and “Live: The Beautiful Soul Tour”. He’s created numerous music videos and at least 12 compilations (mostly with Disney stars). He’s got 14 soundtracks under his belt including being the featured performer on the movie Ella Enchanted. In addition to all this he’s a very talented song writer. To date, he’s co-written songs for Vanessa Hudgens, Dima Belan, Leighton Meester, Toni Braxton, not to mention the internationally best-selling single of 2008, Bleeding Love for Leona Lewis. At this time Jesse is working on his 4th major CD which is estimated to be due out in September. His musical style has evolved from pop to rock to R&B. He’s definitely no longer known as a “former boy-band member”!
