Miley Cyrus To Star In “Wake” Film
Miley Cyrus is reportedly set to star in Lisa McMann’s film adaptation of her book entitled Wake. The book is about a 17 year old who can transport herself into other people’s dreams. While living in their dreams she sees things that are not meant to be seen by her. The book is actually a part of a series of 3 books, so if this film adaptation does well you can expect more film adaptations from the rest of the series.
I think the film sounds good and it should be a fun role for Miley Cyrus to play since it is more of an adult based role. This could give her a big break into more serious roles for her, which she has expressed her wish to do so in older interviews. But this can also help her be seen as a real actress without Disney being involved in it. I just hope that the movie will be directed in a good path and really show her acting skills.
Don’t forget to see what Miley Cyrus had to say on David Letterman. You can also watch a video of her doing a duet with Bret Michaels on the song that she covered Every Rose Has Its Thorn.
Selena Gomez Behind The Scenes From Ramona & Beezus
A recent video was released of Selena Gomez talking more about her upcoming film Ramona & Beezus, which will open nation wide on July 23. Here she talks more about the movie and what goes on behind the scenes of filming it. You can see the whole video at the bottom of this post.
I always enjoy seeing behind the scene footage and watching Selena Gomez talk about her upcoming film is always fun. Many young fans have loved the Ramona series for a long time and to finally be able to share it with their children will be great. It sounds like the cast could not be any more perfect than who they have picked. Most little girls(including when I was one) will enjoy the story line very much and I am sure anyone who has an older or younger sister will relate to the film. This will quickly become a family favorite for many families.
For more of Selena Gomez and Ramona & Beezus fun, watch the trailer for a quick glimpse of what it is all about. You can also see what the book is about that is behind this upcoming movie. And of course now for the behind the scene footage with Selena that you have been waiting for.

ModNation Racers for PS3 – Kids’ Perspective
Since I have already covered the PSP version over at our sister site, I wanted to approach this review from a kids’ angle, as this is a kids’ site. Using my two boys as test subjects, I bring you ModNation Racers for PS3, the kids’ angle. We will hear from them directly at the end of the piece, but for now let me give you some thoughts as a parent who is also a gamer.
Also, as a note, the boys are huge kart racing fans already! This title is a bit more than just a kart racing game–it is a truly an exciting design tool, as well. You know those other kart racers, where you get sick of the tracks and sick of the characters? Well, that is not going to be the case here, because you can just go ahead and design more, or if you are not a good designer, you can download some from people on the PlayStation Network who may have a bit more talent than you in the design arena. And you know what my boys loved the most? The designing of characters, karts, and tracks.
Now, with the characters and karts, the six-year-old took control and could design both of them himself. He was also helpful with the four-year-old, helping him get the characters and karts he wanted. It was like a coloring book with unlimited pages; he was free to create and color his content. He made some cool characters and put his initials on the shirts and all that fun stuff. If he was not dragged away, he would design new characters and karts all day. Remember I told you that people also designed characters that you could download? Well, the boys had a great time downloading all different cool characters like Ash, SpongeBob, and many others. The boys had a bit of a tougher time with the track design, but that could be expected. The fun part, though, was that I was able to work with them, and we came up with some awesome tracks togther that we then raced. I have to say there are some pretty creative people out there, as well, because we downloaded some user-created content tracks that were top notch.
Racing was fun and different all at the same time. The ease of Mario Kart was not there, but it was also not hard for the boys to pick up the hang of racing after a few rounds, either. The drifting is a bit harder than some other kart games, but it also means that you have a bit more control. My six-year-old was fine after a few laps around the track, while our four-year-old still has some troubles with the tight turns. It is more realisitc, but that means a little more tricky for the younger ones in the house. The career mode is also very fun, with the cut scenes being pretty funny; what I really like, though, is that your characters and karts will be used in the cut scenes, giving you more of an immersive experience. The types of goals in career mode allow you to continue on easily if you want to get through the game, but also have enough replay to really get that last goal on a track unlocked. By completing goals you also unlock cool things for your creations.

The graphics on the game are awesome. Now, mind you, they are meant to be a cartoon style, but they are done with expertise. Also the explosions and the graphics for the weapons are insanely represented. The ability for the game to substitute your creations in the cut scenes and career racing mode is also a plus. Obviously a step up from the PSP version, but you would expect that. The audio is also on point.
The only issue any of us actually had with this game were the load times. When you have a game like this, I understand it can be hard to keep the load times to a minimum, but they did not make it. The game can be mind-numbing while loading. I wish they could have put in some cool cut scenes or something during the loads, or a quick little pick like the best-looking racer during that time, something for you to do as you watch the % of progress go up slowly. What this led to in our household was an increased amount of fighting between the boys during load times, because we all know brothers cannot help but fight during downtime.
If they had the load times under control or managed them a bit better, I would have called this game perfect. Even with the load times I will call it “near perfect” and say it would be a 9.5 on a scale of 10 for all those interested in numbers and keeping a score at home. The replay value is off the charts, as you can continue to make tracks, cars, and characters till the cows come home. This is a must purchase if you have a PS3.
Check out the video below of me talking to the boys about the game; this says more than my review ever could.

Lea Michele and Dorothy of Oz early sketches

About a week ago, over at BSC we brought you the word that Glee’s Lea Michele had been brought on board to bring voice to Dorothy in the upcoming animated Dorothy of Oz project. She’s joined by other famous types including Megan Hilty, Hugh Dancy, Oliver Platt, Dan Aykroyd, Kelsey Grammer, and Patrick Stewart. Now, via Collider we have some real cool looks at sketches showing us some of the early concept art for the project. As we told you at BSC, the feature is based off of the story by Roger S. Baum, the great-grandson of L. Frank Baum, the creator of classic Oz stories (you can see the book below).
At BSC we love all things OZ, and our readers know that we love the current work being done by MARVEL Comics by Eric Shanower and Skottie Young (hey, I even have original art!). Check out the official synopsis for the project:
There is trouble in Oz and Dorothy is needed! With Glinda’s help, she and Toto return to Oz. Joined by her old friends the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, the Lion as well as exciting new characters, Dorothy sets out on a perilous journey to stop the crafty Jester from using the power of the Wicked Witch of the West’s wand to turn the people of Oz into puppets. That seems to be the least of Dorothy’s problems as her travels lead her straight into a treacherous maze, a cave full of very hungry dragons and an evil spell that could destroy the Yellow Brick Road. Dorothy has the daunting knowledge that it is up to her to stop Jester’s terrible plan. Audiences will welcome the return of the old Oz favorites and will love meeting new friends like Tugg a gruff talking boat and Wiser an owl with an unlucky attraction to molasses.
Written in the whimsical style of L. Frank Baum, “Dorothy of Oz” is sure to delight Oz fans old and new as they journey once again into the magical land of OZ.

Victoria Adams – Queen Amphitrite in SpongeBob SquarePants
So I might have to go watch some Spongebob! Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants is adding to its high profile, celeb guest list with Victoria Adams (aka Posh Spice!) scheduled to lend her lovely voice to an episode airing in July. The LA Times brings word that she will be joined by other guests in Sebastian Bach and John O’Hurley in an episode called ‘The Clash of Triton’, where the trio will voice a royal family. Not so much of a stretch for Adams who is a global celeb Icon, whose Spongebob character will be called Queen Amphitrite, a mermaid queen!
Adams shares that her two sons, Romeo and Cruz, are fans and can’t wait for them to see her episode, which airs on July 4th:
“I was so thrilled when I was asked to be a part of SpongeBob as my children love the show. When I told the boys that I was going to be on the show, they were so excited! I had such a great time recording the voice of Queen Amphitrite. How fun to be a Queen for a day! We are all looking forward to watching it together.”
We can’t wait to see clips from this episode, and as soon as we do, we’ll be back to share them!
Toy Story 3 Comes and Conquers – Pixar Sets Record

Get out of the way, the toys are back in town! The early buzz (sorry) on Toy Story 3 is good, record breaking good, as the third chapter of Disney/Pixar’s franchise sets an all-time record for biggest opening animated film ever. Box Office Mojo brings the word that Toy Story 3 opens with an estimated $41 Million Dollar Friday, the biggest ever opening Friday for an animated release. To achieve the benchmark, Pixar just tossed Dreamworks’ Shrek 3 out of the way, putting up the 12th all-time best opening day ever for any film. Toy Story 3 nudges just ahead of another recent Disney film, Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, in the the all time opening day rankings.
UPDATE: We have a review up at BSC-throne world now!
If you ask me, it has to be all about Lots-o! We love Pixar both here and at BSCreview, and have been bringing you the pre-release word all year long, so we are happy everybody seems exited about it! Most recently we brought you Tom Hanks – the voice of Woody – talking Toy Story on Radio Disney.I think Damon Cap told me he’s going to see it this weekend, so maybe we will get his – and that of his family’s – thoughts a bit later.
Video – Miley Cyrus and Bret Michaels perform on Good Morning America
Miley Cyrus been kicking up a storm lately, raging untamed across the U.S. and Europe and having both fans and detractors talk about her new look and tone. Most recently, she was back on U.S, shores and joining forces with former Poison frontman, Bret Michaels, to perform that group’s ’80s classic rock jam, ‘Every Rose has Its Thorn’. We told you last December that Miley was working on a cover for the song, and last week Miley and Michaels performed live for Good Morning America. Along with the duet, Miley sang ‘Can’t Be Tamed’, the first and title track off her upcoming album, which comes out a day earlier than previously scheduled, now hitting stores on tomorrow. Michaels also has a new album coming out, hitting stores July 6th and called Custom Built.
It’s not the only new track from Cyrus, as last week we also told you about a new Hannah Montana song is coming, and is called ‘Ordinary Girl’. You can also see Miley address some of the issues mentioned above in recent interview with Ryan Seacrest and David Letterman (told you, she’s everywhere!).
Camp Rock 2 – meet Mdot, Chloe Bridges and Frankie Jonas

You already know about Demi Lovato and the three eldest Jonas Brothers – Joe, Nick, and Kevin – so now Disney is introducing you to some of the others in Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, the upcoming TV movie airing on Disney Channel, set to air on September 3rd. Disney offers up a featurette giving us a closer look at Matthew Finley (Mdot), Chloe Bridges and Frankie Jonas, who in Final Jam play Luke, Dana, and Trevor respectively.
Dana is going to be a romantic foil for Nate (Nick Jonas), Luke is bringing some soul/R&B power to the sequel, and of course Trevor is Jonas4. Find out even more below!
What’s It About?
Mitchie (Demi Lovato) can’t wait to return to Camp Rock so that she and rock star Shane Gray (Joe Jonas) can spend the summer making music and having fun with their friends. But when Mitchie arrives, she discovers that Camp Star, a slick new camp across the lake, has lured many campers and instructors away, threatening the very existence of Camp Rock.
Harry Potter – from Deathly Hallows to Glee?
The Glee favor is rampant and it’s not just musicians (by the way, Cold Play recently allowed the show to use their catalog). Actors like Neil Patrick Harris have come on board to lend their talent to FOX’s hit news show that recently ended its first season. Now it seems that Glee fever also has reached Hogwarts, as according to Access Hollywood, Daniel Radcliffe – aka Harry Potter – both loves the show and would love to appear, answering the question of his interest, “Yes, absolutely”. He did, however, question if he’s up to the cast, adding:
“I would consider it. I mean of course… it’s an amazing show and I [would] obviously be honored to be asked,” he explained. “But, I’m not sure I’m ready for that yet. They’ve got standards like Kristin Chenoweth!”
If you see Radcliffe in other projects he’s actually quite funny and BSCkids thinks the Potter can do no wrong. First though, you will be able to catch Radcliffe in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I which will be released in the U.S. on November 19th. We recently brought you a teaser clip from the film to go along with a couple of promo images that were released before. The second part of Deathly Hallows will hit theaters on July 15th, 2011.
Selena Gomez – Round and Round Clip
Well I think we might end up seeing all the Selena Gomez Round and Round video with all the clips that are getting released recently. The whole video is going to be revealed on the 22nd of June on the Disney Channel, but until then check out the preview below.
I kind of like the spy theme thing that they have going on in the video. The song is definitely growing on me, but for some reason the blond wig just looks way out of place for me. It may be that it is really just a bad wig, I am not a wig professional by any means. This video is going to do real well though and setup her second album nicely. You can check out another sneak peek here.
