Fashion Kitty and the Unlikely Hero by Charise Mericle Harper – Review

Fashion Kitty is a super cute superhero who is really just a regular girl cat, Kiki Kittie, who likes to hang out with her friends and play with her pet mouse, Mousie.  She and her family are vegetarians and love cheese, so Mousie is a great fit for them, but they have to keep her a secret from their cat friends, because, well, you know, the other cats would love Mousie too, for a snack!  In this graphic novel mystery, Kiki and her friends are upset because the school principal, Mrs. Rumple, has no fashion sense and takes it out on the students by making them wear uniforms to school.  She thinks that the kitties are too obsessed with fashion and that it is a distraction from their schoolwork.  She’s wrong, though, because once the kitties have to wear uniforms, they talk to each other about what the teachers are wearing, and even start a fashion flyer that awards teachers for their good fashion sense.  Fashion Kitty, who appears when there is a fashion emergency and a kitty needs help deciding what to wear – or not to wear – shows the principal how she can have fun with fashion, too, even though the principal is nervous about taking fashion chances.
