Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party – Review (Wii)
The Rabbids are back and they are . . . rabid! It is really hard not to catch their hyperactive-ness while playing this fun game. There are over 60 mini-games in this crazy collection, which features bizarre creatures that look like zombie bunnies and make strange noises. Four players can compete at dance contests, snowboarding, burger-flipping, space surfing – and so much more. Players are sure to find a game they like and can play well, or at least have fun trying. Some of the games are pretty difficult, like space surfing, but are still exciting, even when the other players are allowed to get in on the action and cause trouble as you try to avoid obstacles. My daughter loves to wreck me when and if she can, and since I’m pretty terrible at it in the first place, it turns into a big, fun mess that I am happy just to finish.
We laugh a lot when we play Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party, especially the burger-flipping game, which involves cooking the burgers and flipping them into Zeke’s mouth. I am pretty sure Zeke is a walrus, but someone else might know better; whatever he is, he’s big and he’s hungry. Another game that is fun but not easy is BRUSH, which involves brushing your Rabbid’s teeth and cleaning his ears, which is not as easy as it sounds. I keep shaving his face when I should be sticking a Q-Tip in his ear. You can even use your Wii Balance Board if you feel adventurous and want to surf or snowboard with your feet or your rear end. These games are pretty fast and before you know it, you’re finished, so you need to be quick and have a good sense of humor to keep things moving and upbeat. It’s not hard to stay in a good mood while playing Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party, even if you lose.
This is rated for ages 10 and up, probably because the Rabbids are always hitting each other, kicking each other’s butts, and are generally pretty rough and rude. This wasn’t shocking to my ten year old daughter, who has an older brother and has not only seen him play some teen rated games, but has listened to more than her share of the bodily function noises that the Rabbids, and many teenage boys, like to display.
