This is something we’ve heard about before, and with recent Disney acquisition of Marvel, something I was interested in seeing becoming more solid. It now has. Among two new cartoons announced (the other was Tron), Disney XD will be airing The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes this Fall. The team will consist of Captain America, Thor, Iron Man (the so-called Trinity) Giant Man, The Wasp, w/ appearances by The Hulk.

We’ve seen the Avengers on TV before, for myself my last experience was the Direct-to-DVD Ultimate Avengers features, and while enjoyable, I’m hoping for something with the quality of DC’s Justice League and (especially) Justice League Unlimited, the latter being one of the finest cartoon I’ve seen since my childhood (because you’re just not topping Macross, sorry!).

I know there’s going to be mixed opinions, but I love that Disney is going forward with this. I love comics, and more kids need to be exposed to these terrific characters

THIS is what American comics needs, and it looks like I’ll get my wish, as THR quotes Gary Marsh (entertainment president and chief creative officer of Disney Channels Worldwide):

“been pouring through the library of 7,000 Marvel characters looking for the next Spider-Man,”

“fans of the Marvel Universe should expect to see more cooperative ventures in the near future.”

That’s why we love the Magic Kingdom!
