Yo Joe! Red Shadows JoeCon Set!

I love old school G.I. Joe (not too old school mind you, no love for the dolls)! I just got an email from our good friends at Fun Publications (the official publication for Hasbro’s G.I. Joe convention – G.I.Joecon) revealing some images for this year’s Convention Set, and I’m stoked because they are 3 3/4 o-ring molds! You may recall that I previously posted the press release for the club exclusive figures this year (I went deeper with my thoughts over at Vogue Immunity concerning the Big Lob figure!). This set is going to have 15 figures, 3 of which we can now see: Flint, The Black Major and Red Torches. The other two are Interrogator and the Red Shadows (you will get 6 Torches and Shadows in each set). The set is called Vacation in the Shadows.

I went into more depth about my initial thoughts on the set over at VI (probably boring for those who just want there toys!). We also talked Fun Publications last month and the new magazine format for the G.I. Joe Collector’s Club. I’m super happy we get a set in the classic mold!

G.I. Joecon offers a first look at the all-new 3 ¾-inch Red Shadows convention set!

Fort Worth, TX – February 11, 2010 – Fun Publications, Inc., licensee for Hasbro’s official G.I. Joe Collectors’ Convention, G.I.Joecon, has revealed their first two exclusives from this years 3 ¾-inch convention set “Vacation in the Shadows.” Black Major, commander of the Red Shadows, makes his G.I. Joecon debut alongside six of his Red Torch minions. Black Major and the Red Torch’s will be part of this amazing box set that is available to both attending and non-attending collectors.

G.I.Joecon will be held from April 29th-May 2nd in Providence, Rhode Island. This year is a “first” for G.I.Joecon as the show will be headed to where it all began, where G.I.Joe made his first appearance back in 1964 and the subsequent re-launch as G.I.Joe: A Real American Hero in 1982. The first 400 Fans and Collectors who register will be guaranteed a spot on the Hasbro tour, where they can get a first hand look at what has went into this exciting brand that has lasted for over 45 years!
