JK Rowling, Kim Clijsters, Princess Victoria turned into Barbie Dolls
Sky News Online is reporting that JK Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter Series, tennis champion Kim Clijsters and Princess Victoria, Sweden’s Crown Princess have all been turned into Barbie dolls. Previous successful women to have a one-of-a-kind doll made in their image include German president Angela Merkel and Oprah Winfrey, so these three are in good company.
Barbie is doing what it needs to to stay relevant in today’s toy game and that is creating ”true role models for girls of all ages, embodying the essence and values of Barbie,” says Rosa Zeegers, senior vice president of Barbie International . What that really means to me is a bringing a product to the table that mothers will be proud to buy. Clijsters has a tennis outfit on, JK Rowling is wearing her 2009 Monsters and Critics Award Banquet outfit and Crown Princess Victoria looks regal in her outfit. I think this is a really cool idea and wonder who might be next on the list to be immortalized in plastic?
They will be showcased in Mattel’s showroom at the toy fair in Nuremberg Germany.

Enchanted 2 in the works
It seems that Disney is looking to produce a sequel to the Enchanted movie that starred Amy Adams as Giselle. Jessie Nelson has been hired to write for Enchanted 2 and Anne Flectcher has been slated to direct. The producers of the original Enchanted, Barry Josephson and Barry Sonnenfeld will return to Enchanted 2.
The real question behind the script is that now that Giselle has adapted to Earth life from her fairytale world, what is left for her to do? Maybe it will involve her having to travel back to fairytale land? I was a big fan of the first movie so I am crossing my fingers that they will be able to pull off a good script for this sequel.

Miley Cyrus in ‘The Last Song’ Promo Pics!
Some more sneak peaks from The Last Song, the Disney film starring Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are out! We’ve talked Last Song before, but this is a movie based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks that’s set to be released next month, March 31st. below we have a group of lucky 7 promo images, all off which feature the pop-princess in her role as Veronica “Ronnie” Miller who gets a dose of summer love in the form of Hemsworth’s Will Blakelee (described as a successful volleyball player–whatever that means!), a reprieve from drama in her life.
As I mentioned above, we’ve brought you news from this movies before. A couple of weeks ago we brought you a featurette with the cast of the film (including Miley!), and in December we got another featurette that was introduced by the two stars. The month also brought us the film’s one-sheet which features the two on teh beach.
The Last Song also includes a supporting cast comprised of Greg Kinnear, Kelly Preston, and Bobby Coleman. Please note that the release date has been moved up (after being moved back)!

Happy Happy Clover by Sayuri Tatsuyama – review
Happy Happy Clover might be the most adorable manga ever. Clover is – you guessed it – a happy bunny who lives with her animal friends in Crescent Forest, including her best friend Mallow, and bunnies Shallot and Kale. Rambler, a rabbit who wanders around the world but stops by to visit Clover and her friends, and Hickory, Clover’s flying squirrel neighbor, keep their eyes on the adventurous group. Clover thinks Kale’s six tiny brothers are the sweetest bunnies she has ever seen, until she babysits them. It doesn’t take long before she realizes why Kale thinks they are annoying and pesky. I have a little brother, too, so I understand how Kale feels! Professor Hoot, the owl schoolteacher, has his hands full with the energetic bunnies, and has a model student in Shallot, who loves to read. He always says “hoot hoot,” so if you read this manga out loud, which I like to do, it is a lot of fun to call out “hoot hoot” whenever Professor Hoot appears. The bunnies don’t always behave, and sometimes they do things that can get them into trouble, but Rambler and Hickory usually save the day, and the bunnies learn a lesson or two. When they try to hide their tests in a tree, because they have bad grades and are afraid to show their parents, they discover that their parents used the same tree to hide their own bad grades, because the old tests are still there! Happy Happy Clover is also an anime and a Nintendo DS game, but only in Japanese. Hopefully both will be available in the United States soon.
Jeff Smith’s Bone: Handbook – review
The ultimate handbook for every BONE fan! Includes character profiles, a timeline of events, interviews with creator Jeff Smith and colorist Steve Hamaker, a showcase of cover art from the original BONE editions, a behind-the-scenes look at how the Scholastic editions were colorized, and other fun stuff!
I have been a huge Bone and Jeff Smith fan since it appeared in the early 1990′s. Scholastic has done a fantastic job at bringing this beloved and highly awarded series to a younger audience.
2010 promises long awaited reissues and new BONE graphic novels by Jeff Smith through Scholastic. To start of the new releases, BONE : Handbook has been released. This new edition is packed full of comics, character profiles, mythology, interviews, recipes, trivia and a whole lot more in glorious full color pages.
While this is not a fully engaging BONE graphic novel, it sure is a lot of fun packed into a small package. BONE fans both young and the ”young at heart” will find this new title a must have for their collection.
This is the type of graphic book I will probably read more than once as I await upcoming BONE stories and also use it as a refresher when the new titles arrive. If you have not read the BONE series before then you might want to skip this title for now and pick it up after reading the entire series since it is packed full of spoilers.
The BONE: Handbook is a great addition to an already wonderful series.

Jake and the Never Land Pirates begins production
Nancy Kanter who is the senior vice president of Playhouse Disney Worldwide made an announcement that Disney Television Animation has begun production on Jake and the Never Land Pirates. The show will be an interactive 2-D and CG animated series for preschoolers and their parents. It will have music and adventure while introducing a new generation to Captain Hook and Smee. It will also contain a new crew of kid pirates that will be lead by Jake, hence the name of the show.
Kanter had had this to say about the show -
Jake and the Never Land Pirates’ will introduce preschoolers to the excitement of Never Land, an imaginative, engaging pirate world for kids and a wonderfully memorable one for their parents. Comedic foils Captain Hook and his well- meaning sidekick, Smee, will continue to amuse young kids, as the enthusiastic Jake leads his team of kid pirates on adventures that model teamwork for our young viewers.
Jake’s team will include Izzy, Cubby and Skully who will be their parrot. Their ship, Bucky, will embark from Pirate Island hideout on a lost trasure hunt through Never Land. Jake and his crew of kid pirates will use teamwork to outwit Captain Hook and Smee, which will earn them gold doubloons as they complete tasks. I am actually pretty excited to see this show and I am hoping that child number three (which is on the way) will get a kick out of the show once it airs.
