Disney nabs Pair of Kings
Disney XD is going forward with a new live-action television series called Pair of Kings. It has some familiar faces with Mitchel Musso (Hannah Montana) an Doc Shaw (House of Payne and The Suite Life on Deck) who will play Chicago raised teens (rather oddly, they will be fraternal twins) who find out they are the heirs of an the island of Kinkou.
Pair of Kings was developed by Dan Cross and Dave Hoge, the two minds behind another Disney XD offering, Aaron Stone
. Also cast in the show are Geno Segers, Kelsey Chow, and Ryan Ochoa .
Marvin the Martian Coming to Theaters?
The LA Times is reporting that we might just get the Looney Tunes character on the big screen soon! Warner Bros has grabbed Alex Zamm to direct a film that would be much a mix of live action and CGI (they cite the Alvin & The Chipmunks films as an example). Zamm is not unfamiliar with adapting classic cartoon for the big screen as he’s also signed on to bring Hong Kong Phooey, the Hanna Barbera cartoon, to theaters as well.
Though it has been delayed, the movie will retain its original plot:
Marvin comes to Earth to try to destroy Christmas, but his plans are foiled when he gets trapped inside a gift box.
The Times also suggest that none other than Mike Myers (Shrek!)-but all that part seems speculation at this point. For myself, Marvin the Martian is perhaps my favorite of the Looney Tunes characters (remember the Nike/Jordan?Gatorade ads?). If you do, then you know Marvin is ready for live-action interaction ! Here is a reminder of an episode with Marvin and Bugs!
New Toy Story 3 Clip
The weekend brought us a a new look at Pixar’s Toy Story 3 via the extended clip that aired during ABC Family’s presentation of The Incredibles (which you knew about because BSCkids covered it in our coverage of their 25 Days of Christmas coverage). The sneak peek is presented by the director of TS3 Lee Unkrich and gives us a look at Andy 10 years older than when we last saw him! Remember, last month we got the international trailer and two promo images for the movie already!
Toy Story 3 returns Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Wallace Shawn, Don Rickles, Estelle Harris, John Ratzenberger and Jodi Benson, and is scheduled to be in theaters on June 18th, 2010!
If movies are not enough for your thirst for Toy Story, this month we also brought news of a couple of TS related books including one that has a new Toy Story 3 character on the cover! The other was the announcement for the Art of Toy Story!
ABC Family 25 Days of Christmas – Day 21 and 22

I know I did not mention it before, but we have the classic Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factoryon Tuesday night as well. I never tire of Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka.
ABC Family 25 Days of Christmas – Day 20
The last Sunday before Christmas, and we have two shows we have not seen this season. Continuing with the Pixar weekend we get The Incredibles, which my kids just love. Home Alone 4 also get shown, but I think after the second one the series had probably run its course. If you missed Ratatouille on Saturday and do not have a DVR here is your chance to give it a view as well. Only a few more days till Christmas, so make sure you get your viewing in.

Disney∙Pixar’s 2004 Academy Award®-winning THE INCREDIBLES (Best Animated Feature Film) is an action-packed animated adventure about the mundane and incredible lives of a house full of superheroes. Bob Parr (Craig T. Nelson) and his wife Helen (Holly Hunter) used to be among the world’s greatest crime fighters, saving lives and battling evil on a daily basis. Fifteen years later, they have been forced to adopt civilian identities and retreat to the suburbs where they live “normal” lives with their three kids, Violet, Dash, and Jack-Jack. Itching to get back into action, Bob gets his chance when a mysterious communication summons him to a remote island for a top secret assignment. He soon discovers that it will take a super family effort to rescue the world from total destruction. (Animated)

(8:30-11:00 PM ET/PT) THE INCREDIBLES – Encore Presentation
I actually have some last minute shopping I need to do for myself next week, plus a bit of sledding with all the snow we got over the weekend.
ABC Family 25 Days of Christmas – Day 19
Continuing Pixar weekend we get the ABC Family Premiere of Ratatouille, which if you can believe, I have not seen fully through just yet. Since it is the weekend we do get a bunch of other shows during the day, but for a Saturday I would have thought to see more children’s holiday shows. We do get another viewing of Home Alone 2 though which I always find amusing.

(8:00-10:30 PM ET/PT) RATATOUILLE – ABC Family Premiere
Disney∙Pixar’s 2007 Academy Award®-winning RATATOUILLE (Best Animated Feature Film) follows a rat named Remy with dreams of becoming a great French chef despite his family’s wishes and the obvious problem of being a rat in a decidedly rodent-phobic profession. When fate places Remy in the sewers of Paris, he finds himself ideally situated beneath a restaurant made famous by his culinary hero, Auguste Gusteau. Despite the apparent dangers of being an unlikely – and certainly unwanted – visitor in the kitchen of a fine French restaurant, Remy’s passion for cooking soon sets into motion a hilarious and exciting rat race that turns the culinary world of Paris upside down. Remy finds himself torn between his calling and passion in life or returning forever to his previous existence as a rat. He learns the truth about friendship, family and having no choice but to be who he really is, a rat who wants to be a chef. (Animated)
(10:30 PM-1:00 AM ET/PT) HAPPY FEET – (*See Wednesday, December 16, for description.)
Yeah, I am going to have to make some time tonight for Ratatouille, to watch it from start to finish.
ABC Family 25 Days of Christmas – Day 18
Pixar weekend begins today. While not Christmas per say, it is a tradition that ABC Family will hopefully continue each year for the kids. Tonight they have the Pixar Short Films and then one of my all time favorite Pixar movies, Cars. I watch that movie a few times a year with the kids. It has even spawned some darn good video games that everyone in the family enjoys.
(7:30-10:00 PM ET/PT) CARS
From the acclaimed creators of “Toy Story,” “The Incredibles,” and “Finding Nemo” comes a high-octane adventure comedy that shows life is about the journey, not the finish line. Hotshot rookie race car Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) is living life in the fast lane until he hits a detour on his way to the most important race of his life. Stranded in Radiator Springs, a forgotten town on the old Route 66, he meets a snazzy Porsche named Sally (Bonnie Hunt), the wise-cracking tow truck Mater (Larry The Cable Guy), Doc Hudson (Paul Newman), and a variety of quirky characters who help him discover that there’s more to life than trophies and fame. (Animated)
(10:00 PM-12:00 AM ET/PT) PIXAR SHORT FILMS – (*See Wednesday, December 2, for description.)
So from ABC Family we get the Harry Potter and Pixar weekends, not a bad call by the execs on what someone would like to see each and every year during the holiday season. Only other things I could have thought about would be Star Wars and maybe Indiana Jones, but I am not upset the way they went either.
Miley – ‘Party in The USA’ Royal Variety Performance
Grammy nomination or not, Miley Cyrus is still performing all around the world, performing ‘Party in The USA’ on the Royal Variety Shoo (in the UK). Below is the clip of her portion of the show–enjoy!
‘Party in The USA’ is from Miley’s The Time of Our Lives.
Selena Gomez on the Bonnie Hunt Show
Yesterday, actress/musician, mini-diva, Selena Gomez visited the Bonnie Hunt Show. More composed than a lot of adults I know in this one, a nine plus minute video interview! Gomez has had a busy week, with her music video for Naturally also debuting!
ABC Family 25 Days of Christmas – Day 17
A double dose of Jack Frost with the one hour-animated special followed by the Live Action with Michael Keaton version. You know what? I liked them both. I have never seen The Story of the First Christmas Snow and after reading the blurb, it is something that is right up my alley. Looking forward to it tonight. It is followed by the cry fest we have come to know as Nestor, The Long-Eared Christmas Donkey. Also Jingle All the Way makes its way to ABC Family tonight, and who does not like to see Arnold in a Christmas show.
(6:00-6:30 PM ET/PT) THE STORY OF THE FIRST CHRISTMAS SNOW
When a young shepherd named Lucas is struck by lightning and left blind, a group of nuns take him in to their abbey. Here he begins his journey back to health, drawing strength from the love of the nuns and other children. After being chosen to perform the role of the angel in the Christmas play, snow begins to fall and a small miracle is performed. Angela Lansbury narrates this Christmas classic. (Animated)
(6:30-7:00 PM ET/PT) NESTOR, THE LONG-EARED CHRISTMAS DONKEY – (*See Saturday, December 12, for description.)
(7:00-8:00 PM ET/PT) JACK FROST – (*See Monday, December 7, for description of one-hour animated special.)
(8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) JACK FROST
The irresponsible and unreliable father of a young boy is killed in a car crash, but the father gets another chance to make things right with his son when he is reincarnated as a magical snowman. The Christmas fantasy-adventure stars Michael Keaton, Kelly Preston, Mark Addy, Henry Rollins, and pop-personalities Dweezil and Ahmet Zappa. (Live Action)
(10:00 PM-12:00 AM ET/PT) JINGLE ALL THE WAY
To make up for missing his son’s karate match, Howard Langston (Arnold Schwarzenegger) promises his son Jamie (Jake Lloyd) anything he wants for Christmas. Unfortunately, like most kids his age, Jamie wants the extremely popular “Turbo Man” action figure and now, on Christmas Eve, Howard realizes he forgot to buy it. Refusing to break his word, Howard goes on a frantic last minute quest to track down the toy action figure, and stops at nothing to get his son the gift that he wants. (Live Action)
I like it when I can come across a new special (The Story of the First Christmas Snow) that I have not seen before. I just hope the reason I have not seen it is because of timing rather than quality.
